The newly opened Resident Art gallery on Bartók Béla Street, Budapest is a characterful, functional, and inspiring contemporary art space, furnished with interior pieces supplied by Basic Collection. For many years, the gallery has been a prominent figure in the Hungarian art scene, serving both emerging artists and art enthusiasts through its exhibitions, events, and educational programs. With the recent relocation, the gallery now operates in a spacious and refined environment that provides a worthy backdrop for its professional work while powerfully reflecting the needs of contemporary visual culture.

Resident Art gallery

The nearly 142 m² ground-floor space, with its generous ceiling height, features a carefully considered layout designed by CETTE concept Kft., with construction carried out by MO-Start Kft. The joint vision and harmony of the Client, the Designer, and the Contractor played an important role in the creative process, which ultimately resulted—in the words of the curators themselves—in “one of the most beautiful exhibition spaces of the cultural city center on the Buda side.” The gallery is functionally well-zoned: the representative reception area connects to a more intimate exhibition space, office, meeting room, and storage areas. A glass-walled mezzanine level, appearing to float above the gallery, enriches the space both visually and structurally.

Basic Collection’s furniture harmoniously integrates with the interior concept: their understated design and high-quality materials not only enhance the visual appeal of the gallery, but also support its diverse functions. The space’s opening exhibition featured Attila Kondor’s Vertical Landscape series—a show that set a fitting tone for the new location. The project was photographed by Viktor Ferenc Juhász.
