La Cividina was born in 1976 when Carlo Bulfoni, a craftsman with extensive experience in upholstered furniture, decided to open his own workshop in Martignacco, in the province of Udine. From the very beginning, the company embraced the values of “Made in Italy”, using exclusively Italian raw materials and manufacturing products locally in a district known for its excellent upholstered furniture. Thanks to this approach, La Cividina was awarded the World Italian Origin Certificate in 2018, the first time this was awarded to a company in the sector. Specialising in furnishing public institutions, La Cividina has become an important brand in the public sector in a few years. The brand’s sofas and armchairs, made by expert, skilled craftsmen, stand out for their fine materials, attention to detail, attractive design and outstanding comfort. La Cividina’s creations adorn prestigious interiors such as the waiting rooms of Linate, Nice and Singapore airports, the Dropbox offices in Tel Aviv and the lobby of the George Palace in Sydney, to name a few.

The brand’s rich and varied catalogue features a range of seating solutions for the public sector and, in some cases, for home furnishings. The Suiseki sofa, selected from 700 international design projects, won the 2019 Archiproducts Design Awards. Inspired by the Japanese art of arranging stones, designer Andrea Steidl imagined a system of deconstructed seating made of cubes and parallelepipeds that create sofas with a sculptural, captivating aesthetic. The modular Nap sofa, also designed by Andrea Steidl, evokes relaxation and relaxation, reinterpreting the form of a large cushion. One of the most characteristic elements of Nap is the stitching that forms the textile tube that defines the seat and armrests. Designed by Antonio Rodriguez, the Guest collection includes 23 elements of different shapes and sizes that allow for countless configurations. Each piece has such a strong “personality” that it can be used on its own. The flowing, elegant lines give the seating furniture a lightness despite its large size. Designed by Constance Guisset, Waves is an elegant collection inspired by the sea and characterized by organic shapes that create artistic compositions. The shape of the bench, available with or without a backrest, evokes waves, while the elongated poufs evoke flower petals.

Some products are considered design icons. The Pinch sofa by Skrivo Design has won an Honourable Mention at the XXV Compasso D'Oro, the 2016 Archiproducts Design Award and the 2017 Iconic Awards Interior Innovation. The high, curved backrest creates an oasis of calm and privacy, while the minimal and innovative design makes Pinch the perfect solution for any public space. The evocative name of the Soave collection evokes the light and harmonious forms imagined by designer Sebastian Herkner; the Soave sofa, in its asymmetrical version, together with the coffee table, won the 2018 Archiproducts Design Awards in the public category.
The Filinea armchair, designed by Antonio Sciortino, is one of the newest products in the La Cividina catalogue, but it has already caused quite a stir. Made from steel rods just a few millimeters thick, the futuristic design of Filinea is inspired by the euphorbia tirucalli, a plant native to southern Italy. This complex project is a test of virtue and technical skill. The Osaka Line reimagines the revolutionary seating system conceived by Pierre Paulin in 1967 and presented at the Osaka International Exhibition. Designed as a public seating area, Osaka is composed of three parallelepipeds of different heights that form the backrest and the seat. The elements are available in curved shapes with different radii and patterns, allowing for countless compositions and multiple sizes. Finally, La Cividina has re-released a design classic, the modular Dos à Dos Louvre sofa, designed by Pierre Paulin in 1967 to furnish the galleries of the famous museum. The combination of simple, efficient design, ergonomics and modularity makes this sofa a classic that meets the needs of a contemporary audience.
