What is Moroso?

Moroso was founded in 1952 in north-eastern Italy by Agostino Moroso, who established the company’s reputation as a furniture manufacturer on the strength of its regional artisanal craftsmanship. The artisanal approach to product manufacturing and extraordinary creativity in the designing stage formed the foundations of a vision which enabled the firm to grow and distinguish itself in the market for its product quality, innovation and creativity.

Through the creative input of designers of the calibre of Ron Arad, Patricia Urquiola, Ross Lovegrove, Konstantin Grcic, Alfredo Häberli, Toshiyuki Kita, Marcel Wanders, Tokujin Yoshioka, Enrico Franzolini, Doshi & Levien, Tord Boontje, Nendo, Front and others, Moroso has over the years created a collection of iconic designs.

Moroso continues to be a family-owned company, headed by Roberto Moroso and Patrizia Moroso, whose unified leadership has allowed the brand to continuously develop its industrial process without compromising on artistic vision. As Moroso looks to the future, it seeks to expand its product line in ways that are aligned with its central mission of integrating the beauty of design within society.

Iconic Moroso pieces

The Gogan sofa takes its name from nature and in particular from stones rendered smooth by time and water, which provided the inspiration for this project. This is the Japanese name given to the stones placed to protect and embellish the banks of rivers and lakes. The sofa’s form in fact reminds us of flat stones sculpted by wind and water. Like the sofa, the shape of the Gogan coffee table in the collection also evokes nature, with the appearance of stones slowly rendered smooth by water.

The character of the Ruff armchair is given by the harmonious combination of straight and curved lines – a simple geometry that creates an architectural interaction with the space. Minimalist contemporary design, with a twist in the interlocking shape of the armrests and backrest.

Moroso furniture is not only dazzling in its shapes, the wide range of colours and patterns includes extraordinary outdoor pieces. The M’ Afrique collection has been made using woven threads normally used for fishing nets, the designs are all different and original, like their names. Handwoven, they are human in their imperfections and flaws. Like Gogan and Ruff, you can also find the Shadowy outdoor armchair in the Basic Collection Home showroom!
