MH Design provides a full range of interior design and decoration services to its private and corporate clients. The team specializes in commercial and residential project areas, but we also feature public works in our portfolio.

What was the client’s demand?

What did the assignment say? Creating a high-quality music entertainment venue with an exclusive restaurant function that appeals to the 30+ age group.

How difficult was it to meet the challenge? There were many challenges in the area to be developed; the basement consisted of three significantly deteriorated levels, the walls were waterlogged, so we had to install special materials. Many functions had to be placed in narrow areas and the low ceiling height was not the most ideal either.

How long did the project take? It started in February 2021 and was completed in April 2022.

Where did you get your inspiration from? During my trips abroad, I always try to look at different places with a professional eye, I read trade magazines and I also get inspired online.

Was there a new, unique interior design solution that you used? Achieving a connection and transition between the various functions was a challenge, especially to be able to see from each space to the next: piano area + bar, bar + lower restaurant level. All this became transparent by breaking through the wall and using mirrors.

Is this style close to you? What was the challenge for you in this project? The entire design process was exciting, the use of high-quality materials, deep colours, huge poster wallpaper, a unique wall pattern at the entrance, and the display of black and white and copper colours at the bar in contrast to the other elements. I really enjoyed the use of the composition of stucco decorations on the restaurant’s wall, it provides a special overall look in contrast to the antique mirror wall. I tried to combine the piano feeling with some elements of that era, so for example the wall painting of Katalin Karády – the owner’s favourite – by Colour Brigade and the use of special old lamps (Andrea Miklósvári) create a very atmospheric world.

I like natural materials, bolder contrasts and special colour compositions.

Do you have a trademark that appears in all of your work? This is a difficult question. According to my clients, they always recognize my work, even if it is in a completely different style. It’s hard to sum it up in just one word. Perhaps the most suitable expression would be the creation of harmony, which is the foundation of all my work, even in the case of more eclectic projects where many things are mixed.

What was the main consideration in choosing the furniture? Comfort, durability, style, colour, value for money.

Which Basic Collection piece would you choose for yourself? It’s hard to choose from so many good ones, but right now I would like one of these: Scab Design, Dress Code fotel
